250 students of Suzhou Midu Middle School went on a sightseeing tour, "Beautiful Suzhou in my eyes", on July 7, organized by the 5-in-1 coordination committee "Fill Suzhou with Love", which included a classical garden (The Humble Administrator's Garden) tour, visits to Suzhou Museum, Suzhou Industrial Park Exhibition on Planning, Suzhou Culture & Arts Center, and the fascinating film "Jurassic World".
Besides, the first-year junior students will be invited to watch a cultural performance at SIP Youth & Children Center on September 23 to experience the fascination of art.
Speaking of the purpose of the activity, Tian Taicu, Director of the coordination committee, said: "The migrant workers have contributed to the construction of Suzhou, but some of their children have not seen a single movie here, and we feel it to be our obligation to help these kids to understand and love Suzhou and take it as their second hometown."
"Many children live in a limited enclosure of daily life, and it is our aim to provide them with an opportunity to better mix up with Suzhou," said Song Suye, deputy headmaster of the school. Song also expressed that the students were mostly children of migrant workers on relatively low standard of living, and the school hoped there would be more people to support such activities so that these kids would feel the real charm of the city.
